Wade twins remain firm in their commitments, despite Steve Clinkscale’s departure

The University of Kentucky was the first program to extend a scholarship offer to Keaten and Destin Wade. That foresight may be exactly what keeps them committed now that UK has announced the departure of Steve Clinkscale to Michigan.

Clinkscale served as the twins lead recruiter throughout the process and fans are beginning to stir now that he’s no longer on Mark Stoops’ staff.

Some good news — Keaten and Destin’s mother, Valerie Wade, took to Twitter on Tuesday replying to Justin Rowland from Rivals dispelling any rumors that her sons were considering backing out of the verbal commitment they made back on April 16th.

It was great to hear that the Wade twins remain firm in their commitment, but it was equally as refreshing to hear from their mother that they’re actively recruiting others to join them in Lexington.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Wade twins, they are big-time four-star prospects from just outside of Nashville, Tennessee — both are ranked as top-300 players in the class of 2022.

Destin Wade is a 6-3, 205-pound athlete/quarterback who combined for 37 touchdowns during his junior season. He led his Spring Hill Summit team to a Tennessee Division-I Class 5A State Championship. The kid is a big-time player who could make an immediate impact depending on his senior year development.

Keaten Wade operates on the other side of the ball, acting as an outside-linebacker. He has a little more weight on him that his brother, 247 Sports lists him at 223 pounds.

As relieving as it was to hear some positive news from Valerie Wade, you can count on the departure of Steve Clinkscale, a well-respected phenomenal recruiter, to impact Kentucky far beyond the Wade twins.

Replacing him will be a difficult task for Mark Stoops but the culture Clinkscale has created should make for some excellent replacement options.

Bottom line: These kind of situations are a part of big boy SEC football and now the ‘Cats find themselves right where they want to be —— in the thick of the conversation
