According to Webb, Clinkscale agreed to a three-year deal to become Michigan’s passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach. He’ll have the opportunity to be promoted to co-defensive coordinator in years two and three.
Clinkscale coached at Cincinnati for three seasons before joining the Kentucky coaching staff in 2016. Since then, he has proven to be an instrumental part of the player development that Kentucky is becoming known for. He was listed as the lead recruiter for five-star Justin Rogers in the class of 2020 and several other high-profile recruits.
Losing Clinkscale is significant, but it’s not to the degree of losing Vince Marrow, which has nearly happened several times in recent years. It’s unfortunate Kentucky couldn’t keep Marrow and Clinkscale, but at least Marrow is still in the fold for the foreseeable future.
We will have more on this story shortly…
