Chris Beard continues to strike gold through the transfer market, as he’s added yet another piece to his first roster with the addition of former Creighton forward Christian Bishop, who announced his pledge to the Texas Longhorns on Friday.
Bishop chose Texas over Kansas and North Carolina, so it could go without saying that this is a significant recruiting victory for Beard and his staff.
“They got a new coach who’s a really good coach who made it to a national championship two years ago. He’s always been successful with transfers and I feel like they have a good culture down there in Texas, so they can be a valuable choice for me,” Bishop recently told 247Sports’ Dushawn London of his interest in the Longhorns. “It obviously takes multiple good players to make a great team. They’re trying to win a national championship so they want to bring in guys who can win and I’m a winner so that’s why they like me.”
As a junior, Bishop averaged 11 points on a remarkable 68.1 percent from the field to go along with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
A 6’7, 220-pounder, Bishop can certainly fill the role of a power forward at the collegiate level, as he not only features adequate size, but he’s an explosive athlete who thrives around the rom, often in the form of highlight dunks.
