In one of the most entertaining games of the day so far in the Round of 32, the No. 3 seed Arkansas Razorbacks narrowly defeated the No. 6 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders by a score of 68-66. The Razorbacks were led by Justin Smith, who scored 20 points.
Arkansas led for the entire second half of the game after taking a three-point lead into halftime. However, the Razorbacks nearly blew a 13-point lead with nine minutes to go, allowing Texas Tech to go on an 11-0 run to erase the deficit.
Tech had a chance to tie or win the game on the final possession but failed to score. They also had a pair of missed layups and a missed free throw on the front end of a one-and-one on their final three possessions of the game.
In the loss, Texas Tech was led by Terrence Shannon Jr. who scored 20 points. Mac McClung was held to just nine points on two of six shooting from the field.
Arkansas will play the winner of No. 7 Florida vs. No. 15 Oral Roberts in the Sweet 16. The last time the Razorbacks were in the Sweet 16 was 1996, ending a 25-year drought.
