Joe Burrow auctioning off signed cleats and donating proceeds to Athens County Food Pantry

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t just draft the player that is Joe Burrow with the top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They drafted the stellar young man that comes with the elite quarterback.

Burrow, who grew up in The Plains, Ohio, likely was a first-hand witness of the poverty that happens in some of the rural Ohio counties. For Athens, according to Cleveland.com, they rank 67th of 88 countries in median household income.

Doing his best to improve the living conditions for people in the area he grew up, the LSU quarterback who won the Heisman Trophy brought in $350,000 by pleading for his cause after winning the award.

Burrow raised nearly half a million dollars, and he’s not stopping there. With over a million Instagram followers, Burrow took to the social media platform to let his followers know that he’s going to be auctioning off cleats in the name of the Athens County Food Pantry.

This is the most wholesome offseason content that you’ll see anywhere, and it’s just yet another terrific sign of the player and person that the Bengals brought in.

That said, Burrow will be looking to bounce back after sustaining a significant ACL tear against Washington Football Team. Having an all-time great rookie season up to that point, the hope for Burrow to be among the best to ever pick up the pigskin is still alive.
