We’re still waiting for official confirmation on coach hires, and we’re still waiting for confirmation from the Jets in relation to when Robert Saleh’s press conference will be. However, we have more named linked with vacancies with the Jets.
Michael Silver has revealed the following:
Two other members of Saleh’s staff: Greg Knapp as QB coach, Rob Calabrese as pass game specialist.

Mike LaFleur has been mentioned for a while now and with the 49’ers promoting Mike McDaniel to offensive coordinator today, that’s confirmed.
However, there are new names in here as well, with 49’ers offensive line coach John Benton coming over as the OL coach and run game coordinator. San Francisco finished in the middle of the pack last year in terms of their run game registering 1,889 yards on the ground which is 118.1 yards per game. Benton has been in the NFL since joining the Rams in 2003 and has worked with the Texans, Dolphins and Jaguars before joining Saleh in San Francisco and now New York.
Greg Knapp is a name that most NFL fans will recognise. He’s been coaching since 1986 but moved to the NFL 1997 as the San Francisco 49’ers offensive quality control coach. He’s been the offensive coordinator for the 49’ers, Falcons, Seahawks and Raiders and coached quarterbacks throughout his career including Matt Ryan between 2018-2020, he was also with the Broncos when they won Superbowl 50.
Rob Calabrese isn’t a name I’m overly familiar with, he was with the Broncos in 2019-2020 as their offensive quality control coach and it was rumoured that he’d be forced to play when all the Bronco’s QB’s were ruled out due to COVID, however, the NFL wouldn’t allow it.
Once these hires are confirmed, we’ll be looking into each coach in much more detail.
