Much has already been said about K-State’s decision to move next season’s matchup with Stanford to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. for the Allstate Kickoff Classic so I will not belabor anything here (Especially considering our own JT VanGilder has a great column on the subject that dropped this morning). JT makes some great points on why this wasn’t the best move for K-State but the longer I think about the more I find myself okay with it. Hopefully, we’re able to get a lot of purple into the Metroplex that weekend. That would make it worth it.
K-State senior Brookelynn Entz was drafted 38th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) draft by Kansas City.
Entz, who already announced that she was planning on returning to K-State for a final season, is the first player in program history drafted to the NWSL and the second to get an opportunity to play professionally after teammate Silke Bonnen signed on to play in Europe.
It’s still unknown whether Entz will forego that final year of eligibility now that she has an opportunity to go pro or if she’ll stick around and try to get drafted again next year. It would suck to lose her but getting to play professionally so close to her friends and family is probably going to be a big draw.
K-State is set to host the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Saturday. Junior Victoria Alves will help lead the way for the Cats after earning Big 12 Athlete of the Week honors after winning the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.22, the second-fastest time in school history.
K-State won the meet last year. You can follow along with the results by following this link and clicking on the corresponding meet on the schedule. Fans will not be allowed in Ahearn to watch the meet due to Covid-19 safety concerns.
The K-State women’s game versus Oklahoma State that was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday has been moved to Jan. 25 thanks to Covid. The K-State women were also scheduled to play Iowa State that Wednesday but it was bumped one day to Thursday the 28th to allow for some rest between games.
K-State is still working with the Big 12 to reschedule the other games they’ve had to miss this season.
