Rescheduled West Virginia vs. Oklahoma Game on Dec. 12 to Kick at Noon or 3:30 p.m. ET

On Wednesday, Nov. 25, the Big 12 postponed the West Virginia football game against Oklahoma. That game was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The conference today announced the rescheduled game on Saturday, Dec. 12, in Morgantown, will kick off at noon or 3:30 p.m. The game will broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

The original date was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the OU football team.

This is a slight disappointment, as WVU could end up playing every home game in 2020 in the noon slot. Regardless, missing out on a night game in Morgantown is disheartening.

The Mountaineers (5-3, 4-3) travel to Iowa State this Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET game. The Sooners (6-2, 5-2) will host Baylor on December 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

WVU is just 2-10 against OU in its history. Those two wins are prior to the Big 12 era of Mountaineer football.

Since joining the Big 12, the Mountaineers have been competitive in some games but the average margin of Sooner victory is 17.375 points.

Last year was the worst defeat to OU, a 52-14 loss in Norman in Neal Brown’s first year in charge of the program. Austin Kendall started the game for WVU, completing 15 of 31 passes, for 182 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

This will be Senior Day in Morgantown and 20 seniors will be honored. That said, the NCAA has given every athlete a “free” year of eligibility for the 2020 season, which means many of these players could suit up in the Old Gold and Blue in 2021.
