CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin puts out weekly power rankings like many other NFL analysts, but his specifically highlight the league’s starting quarterbacks. Each week, he moves signal-callers up and down based off their most-recent outings, and it should be no surprise that Jared Goff saw some upward movement following his season-high yardage effort against the Bucs this past Monday night.
Here’s what Benjamin had to say about the Rams QB:
“Goff had the makings of a pristine performance in Sunday night’s win over the Bucs, but then he had to throw a couple of head-scratchers that almost enabled a Tampa comeback. Best-case scenario, he gets good protection and gives you top-12 stuff.”
Tampa Bay has a good, young secondary. I’m wouldn’t be too worried about the pair of interceptions. What matters is Goff showed the fortitude to overcome the mistakes and lead his team to a huge victory. That’s the silver lining we should all be focusing on.
