The Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts face off this Sunday in a game that will be a litmus test for both teams. The Lions are coming off a two-game winning streak, but they haven’t garnered much attention for it because those two wins came against a pair of 1-6 teams.
The Colts sport a better 4-2 record, but with the easiest schedule over the first seven weeks of the season, I’m not sure there are many buying them as true contenders yet. And while each team is coming into this week with clear flaws—therefore giving doubters a reason to delegitimize a potential win this week—this game does present a novel challenge for each team. For the Lions, it’s an opportunity to fetch a win against a healthy and prepared team that has more than one win. For the Colts, it’s a chance for their defense to show they don’t just beat up on bad quarterbacks.
The help preview Sunday’s game between the Colts and Lions, we chatted with Zach Hicks of Stampede Blue.
What Hicks made clear is that this will be a battle in the trenches. The Lions’ newfound strength in three defensive tackle looks against the Colts’ phenomenal interior offensive line. Lions center Frank Ragnow vs. one of the best DTs in the league DeForest Buckner.
