Chiefs vs. Broncos Thursday injury report: Mitch Schwartz could miss first start

Each practice day of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs release an official injury report leading up to the next game. The Chiefs travel to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead Time.

Here is the Chiefs’ second official injury report of the week:

Some notes

  • There was no change to Kansas City’s practice participants. All four players now missing two practices does not bode well for their Sunday status. That would be especially notable for right tackle Mitch Schwartz, who has yet to miss a start in his nine-year career, a streak of 134 games. Schwartz entered last game with a questionable status and left after Kansas City’s first series.
  • Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck on Schwartz: “That steadiness, that consistency that he’s provided — as well as top-notch play through the years that he’s been here — sure, we’ll miss that. Now he’s in our room as he gets healthy. He’s still leading the way he does in our room and meetings. The guy is the truest of professionals in terms of his preparation, and so having him there in the meetings is still huge for us. Mike (Remmers) will step in at right tackle, and we’ve got other guys, Yasir Durant ready to go as well.”
  • Broncos left guard Dalton Risner isn’t likely to play.
  • Earlier this week, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said that key players in tight end Noah Fant (ankle), wide receiver KJ Hamler (hamstring) and cornerback A.J. Bouye (shoulder) all have “a chance” to return to the lineup against the Chiefs. Bouye is not on the injury report since he is on the injured reserve list.
  • It is reportedly “looking good” for Bouye and Hamler to play against the Chiefs.
