Browns sign Kyle Lauletta to practice squad

The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Kyle Lauletta to the practice squad on Friday.

The team was in need of a third quarterback after the Dallas Cowboys signed Garrett Gilbert off of Cleveland’s practice squad earlier this week.

According to the team’s website, Lauletta was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He appeared in two games for the Giants that season, missing on all five of his pass attempts to go along with an interception.

His rookie season was also highlighted by an arrest for eluding police and resisting arrest during a traffic incident in October of that year. According to SNY, Lauletta was in Weehawken, N.J., on the way to practice and attempted to make a right turn from the wrong lane. He ignored the police officer’s instructions to keep going straight and, while making the turn, Lauletta nearly hit the officer who was directing traffic.

The Giants released Lauletta at the end of training camp in 2019, and he spent the season on the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles. He did not stick with Philadelphia this year, and spent the opening part of the season on the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons.

While at Richmond, Lauletta played 40 games, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 10,465 yards and 73 touchdown passes. He was the MVP of the 2018 Senior Bowl after throwing for 198 yards and three touchdowns.
