Look: Oklahoma State unveils 1987 Sun Bowl throwback uniforms for West Virginia game

Oklahoma State revealed its 1987 Sun Bowl throwback uniforms Tuesday night for their Big 12 conference opener against West Virginia on Saturday.

OSU will wear the uniforms in honor of all-time leading rusher Thurman Thomas, who will be the first inductee into the Cowboys’ ring of honor at halftime of the game. He was the 1987 Sun Bowl MVP after he rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns on 33 carries against WVU in his final collegiate game, a 35-33 OSU win. Thomas’ name and No. 34 will be unveiled atop the west end zone of Boone Pickens Stadium.

The uniforms feature a white helmet with an orange OSU decal on each side with players’ numbers’ and ‘COWBOYS’ in orange on the back. The jerseys and pants are both white with an orange stripe.

Thomas, a 2007 Pro Football Hall of Famer and 2008 National College Football Hall of Famer, is the all-time leading rusher in OSU history with 5,001 yards and 50 touchdowns. He was a three-time All-American and two-time Big Eight Offensive Player of the Year.

OSU and WVU will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on ABC.
