Two Colts Named to PFF’s Week 2: Team of the Week

Two Indianapolis Colts were named to PFF’s Week 2: Team of the Week, as tight end Mo Alie-Cox and offensive guard Mark Glowinski made their weekly standout squad—with Alie-Cox even earning ‘Offensive Player of the Week’ honors:

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TE Mo Alie-Cox, Indianapolis Colts

Former VCU basketball star Mo Alie-Cox had seen just 27 targets in his two-plus years in the NFL prior to Week 2. With Trey Burton on IR and Jack Doyle out for Week 2 with an injury, Alie-Cox needed to step up and he most certainly did. Alie-Cox caught five of six passes for 111 yards and produced a 94.8 PFF grade for the game. Four of those five catches ended up a gain of 15-plus yards, and he made this impressive contested snag:

According to PFF, Alie-Cox’s Week 2, +94.8 overall grade was the highest grade earned by a tight end since former New England Patriots All-Pro Rob Gronkowski in Week 15 of 2017.

On Sunday, Alie-Cox had 5 receptions for 111 receiving yards (22.2 ypr. avg.) on 6 targets.

The 6’5”, 267 pound big bodied tight end was a receiving and blocking force for the Colts—after a breakout game as Indy’s TE1. While Alie-Cox had the early bobble that led to a Philip Rivers interception, he redeemed himself in a big way the rest of the game on Sunday.

He’s PFF’s 3rd highest ranked tight end right now with a +91.2 grade overall.

Meanwhile, a surprising addition has been Colts starting right guard Mark Glowinski who’s been off to a great start to begin the 2020 season and had a +89.9 grade overall in Week 2.

While Glowinski is often thought of as ‘the 5th Beatle’ among the Colts standout offensive line, he has a +86.6 grade overall—highlighted by a +87.7 run blocking grade. He’s currently the NFL’s 4th highest graded offensive guard. Yes, even over his teammate, 2x First-Team NFL All-Pro Quenton Nelson (6th), who has a +83.3 grade overall after two weeks.

The Colts’ PFF standout pair had great performances on Sunday respectively, and each was instrumental in the Horseshoe’s convincing win against the Minnesota Vikings.
