Marquise Blair to have MRI, appears to have suffered “fairly serious” knee injury

The Seattle Seahawks scored a massive win in Week 2, topping the New England Patriots 35-30 in a primetime thriller. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, their victory didn’t come without loses as both Marquise Blair and Bruce Irvin exited the game with serious looking knee injuries.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Pete Carroll provided as much of an update as he could on both players. On Irvin, Carroll was able to tell reporters it was a sprained knee and that the veteran was up and walking around the locker room.

While Irvin may miss some time as a result, it is good news after he went to the turf with a non-contact injury.

The update on Blair was less promising, albeit less clear as well. Carroll told reporters Blair would have an MRI but when pressed, went on to say it appeared serious and said he was “sick about it.”

So, while Seattle avoided a serious loss with Irvin, it does not appear they or Blair were as lucky on Sunday night.

The Seahawks’ second-year safety had carved out a role for himself and looked to play a major part on the defense. Barring good news from the MRI, that role could be on hold for the foreseeable future.
