Atlanta Barves vs. The Nigh Mets (Apu’s Favorite Squadron)—12:10pm CT MLB.TV
Kyle Wright is one of two healthy former Diamond Dore starting pitchers left in MLB (though a third, Walker Buehler, is expected to return from
finger blasters finger blisters Thursday), so we will be watching this one. The Nigh Mets counter with Rick Porcello, who won a Cy Young once… but it not remotely the same pitcher he was that one year in Boston. Dansby and his hair will be at SS.
San Fransisky Garlic Fries vs. Oakland A’s—3:00pm CT ESPN
Yaz and Selman vs. Kemp and Minor (though Minor won’t pitch until Tuesday). O-Town has already clinched their postseason bid, but the Fries still have work to do, as they are in the thick of the wild card race (at 25-26, they are currently tied with the Beermakers for the last wild card spot).
Chicago White Stocking vs. Cin City Reds—12:10pm CT MLB.TV
Vandy Boy who never was Dylan Cease takes the mound for the Stockings. Cin City counters with Michael “Not The Hefty Lefty” Lorenzen. Casali may play in this one. It is unlikely Sonny Gray will return this season, though if they grab one of the two wild card spots, and make the postseason, there is the smallest chance of return. They are battling the Cards for the 2nd spot in the Central, and the Fries, Phillies, and Brewers, for the wild card. At 26-27, they are currently have a .001 % higher win percentage than the Fries and Beermakers.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates—3:05pm CT ESPN+
Jack Flaherty is on the mound for the St. Lunatics. That’s bad news for Reynolds and the Buccos. Of course, the Buccos, with the worst record in baseball (15-37), have had more than their fair share of bad news. Seriously, they’re not even averaging one win per three game series, and Reynolds is still below the Mendoza line with only 8 games remaining in the season. They’ve only won two series all year. Oof.
On the bright side, maybe Reynolds will have Kumar Rocker or Jack Leiter with him in a different shade of black and gold this time next year.
