Thursday is the day for Leonard Taylor.
The five-star defensive tackle out of Miami Palmetto is set to make a commitment around 1 p.m. ET live on CBS Sports HQ, a free 24/7 sports news network that can be streamed on mobile devices.
Taylor will pick between Miami and Florida.

Taylor, who 247Sports ranks at the nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle this cycle, broke down what he likes about the Hurricanes and Gators earlier this week.
“Florida, I feel like if I go up there, I can play right away,” Taylor said. “It’s good that they have been winning games. All the coaches love me up there. Academic wise, I feel like if I was to go there, I would make it. At UM it’s close to home and near my mom. Who wouldn’t want to play for Miami? You can put on for your own city instead of somebody else’s.”
“[Dan] Mullen is pretty cool,” Taylor added. “He stays dripped out before the games. He just shows love to the players. He gets excited about the games. Manny Diaz, he gets excited about the games too. I like that. I feel like I can get on the field at Miami too as a freshman.”
Taylor is coming off a junior season in which he totaled 68 tackles and 11 sacks. The Under Armour All-American, who grew up playing basketball, has been compared to a young Quinnen Williams.
“I think it would be a huge get,” 247Sports national analyst Charles Power said last week on InsideTheU’s Through The Smoke podcast while talking about Taylor. “If you look at what he brings on the field, this is a guy who is just kind of like a playmaker. He has the ability to rush the passer from the interior which is I think increasingly valued, and rare.”
If Taylor were to pick Miami he would become the highest ranked defensive line to pick the Hurricanes since Booker T. Washington five-star end Chad Thomas signed with the hometown school back in 2014. Thomas ended up starting 13 games as a senior for UM before being selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Miami enters Thursday with the nation’s No. 11 ranked recruiting class per the industry-generated 247Sports’ Composite Team Rankings. A commitment from Taylor would move Manny Diaz and the Hurricanes back into the Top 10.
