NFL teams will get salary cap relief for players that opt-out

The NFL and the NFLPA agreed to some final points on how things will work for the 2020 NFL season. The biggest one is that teams will get salary cap relief for players that choose to opt-out of the 2020 season:

Pelissero went on to give the example of Ja’Wuan James. He has a $10 million salary this year as well as $3 million in prorated bonus money, so the Broncos get $13 million back against the cap for the 2020 season.

This could be significant for the Titans as it pertains to Vic Beasley, who to my knowledge at 9:09 AM on Tuesday, August 4th still has not reported to camp. He has a $9.5 million cap number this year. The Titans could use that money to chase a certain former Seahawks player.

Of course the issue there is that all of these teams that have players opting out, including the Patriots who have had half there players opt out*, will have more money to sign players.

*OK not really half
