After announcing in May that the previous crew would not be returning for another season, ESPN is reportedly set to announce Steve Levy, Lance Reddick, and Brian Griese as its new broadcast team for Monday Night Football. They will also reportedly being using college football commentators Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler for the first week at least, depending on the outcome of the NCAA season in the fall and whether or not there is one.
Those games are scheduled to be on October 26 and November 23.
The Rams have been a more popular pick for primetime recently thanks to the success of Sean McVay and the high-profile natures of Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, and the recently-departed Todd Gurley. However, they would probably like to forget — or at least atone for — their sole Monday Night appearance in 2019, a Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
After getting no Monday Night games in 2017, McVay’s success that season led to two appearances in 2018: A 33-13 Week 1 blowout win over the Oakland Raiders an a 54-51 instant stunning classic victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.
That’ll be more of the goal in 2020, but the voices on the TV is one thing assured to be different this year.
And I guess the fact that there probably won’t be fans there.
