The decision is in for the top-ranked quarterback in the 2021 class. Five-star quarterback Caleb Williams capped off a big Fourth of July on the recruiting front, announcing his commitment to Oklahoma on Saturday night on CBS Sports HQ.
The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga product picked the Sooners over fellow finalists LSU and Maryland. He is second commitment of the day for Oklahoma, joining four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin.
Williams becomes Oklahoma’s highest-rated commitment under head coach Lincoln Riley. The 6-foot-2, 209-pounder is also the second highest-rated quarterback to commit to the Sooners in the modern recruiting era dating back to 2000.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the country for the 2021 class. He is also the top-ranked player in the District of Columbia. 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Charles Power compares Williams to NFL star Russell Wilson, projecting him as a potential first-round NFL Draft selection.
