Maybe you don’t follow Kansas football recruiting very much, and that’s completely understandable. But if you’re here, you likely follow Kansas basketball recruiting. And if that’s the case, you’ll want to keep reading.
Four-star WR Keon Coleman (Opelousas, LA) just announced his commitment to Les Miles and Kansas, which is huge for the Jayhawk football program. Coleman, 6’4” 185lbs, is a national top-150 rated player by 247Sports. He also plays defensive back at the high school level as well as averages 20+ points per game for the basketball team. This means he may play in Allen Fieldhouse as well as Memorial Stadium over the next several years.
Oklahoma and South Carolina rounded out his three finalists, with Michigan State, Florida State, and Mississippi State getting cut a couple of weeks ago.
reports tweets, Coleman has also built a relationship with Bill Self, which no doubt helped in his decision to come to Lawrence:
Coleman’s (nonbinding verbal) commitment only boosts a Kansas recruiting class that was already ranked #51 in the country and 7th in the Big 12. KU football now has two players (RB Devin Neal, WR Keon Coleman) in the national top-150 for the class of 2021 (per 247Sports, which is higher than 247’s composite rankings), which would make them two of the highest-rated recruits for the Jayhawks since recruiting rankings became a thing.
However you want to look at it, this is big news for Kansas (and whoever is going to be playing quarterback in 2021).
