Report: MLB plans to release 2020 schedule next week

The 2020 MLB season is right around the corner with players beginning to report for training this week. Now, with excitement building for baseball’s return in the summer, fans can now look forward to MLB’s schedule release for the 2020 season.

2020 MLB schedule to be released next week

We already know the first game baseball fans will see when the 2020 season begins. The New York Yankees will face the Washington Nationals in a clash between aces Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, MLB plans to release the remainder of its 2020 schedule in about a week.

While baseball fans would love for the schedule to be released now, the league is obviously going to exercise some caution. Before players can even begin practicing in spring training 2.0, they all need to be tested for COVID-19.

MLB will also continue to monitor the number of COVID-19 cases in each city, keeping in contact with health and local government officials to ensure it is safe to play baseball.

While there is some divide among organizations with some clubs allowing fans to attend games and other clubs ruling out fan attendance, there should at least be MLB games to watch in a month.
