4-star Texas CB target Ishmael Ibraheem sets commitment date

One of the top cornerbacks in the Lone Star State is close to announcing a commitment, as Dallas Kimball product and key Texas Longhorns target Ishmael Ibraheem will decide in the coming weeks.

In early April, Ibraheem released a list of his top 10 schools — Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M. So there are a host of national programs that remain in contention for the 6’1, 175-pounder.

The Longhorns have been in the mix for Ibraheem since offering him last summer. Since then, Texas has had plenty of turnover on the coaching staff, including the hire of a new defensive coordinator and new cornerbacks coach. Despite those changes, Ibraheem has remained a top target.

In a weak year for the position in the state, Ibraheem is even more valuable, especially with the recent commitment of Denton Guyer’s Deuce Harmon to Texas A&M — this is a key recruitment for Jay Valai a few months into his tenure at Texas.

The good news is that the Horns are considered the favorite, with all five 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Texas.

A consensus five-star prospect, Ibraheem is ranked as the No. 171 player nationally and the No. 13 cornerback, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
