Patrick Ewing tests positive for coronavirus

New York Knicks legend and Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball coach Patrick Ewing announced on Friday that he tested positive for the coronavirus.

Ewing, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and College Basketball Hall of Fame, released a statement revealing his diagnosis for COVID-19 and that he is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The 57-year-old shared the news to raise awareness about the dangers of the coronavirus and the serious nature of the pandemic that has swept across the country.

Ewing returned to his alma mater to become its head coach in 2017. The 11-time All-Star and former NCAA champion has recorded a 49-46 record during three seasons at Georgetown. This past season, the Hoyas posted a 15-17 record.

Fortunately, Ewing is the only member of the men’s basketball program to test positive for the coronavirus. We extend our wishes for health and a speedy recovery to Ewing.
