Jon Kuminga, the nation’s top prospect in the 2021 class, has narrowed his list of options to four schools and a professional league, he tells 247Sports.
Kuminga is down to Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, the NBA G League and Texas Tech.
Of the remaining schools, Kuminga, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward, has taken multiple unofficial visits to Auburn plus unofficial trips to Kentucky and Texas Tech.
It’s well known that Kuminga, a native of the Congo, is considering reclassifying from the 2021 to 2020 class. The reclassification decision hasn’t been made, according to his brother Joel Ntambwe.
“The G League offer could be for this year,” Ntwambe said.
Kuminga emerged as the No. 1 prospect in the class early last year. He currently ranks No. 1 overall in both the 247Sports rankings and the Composite Rankings.
Already at 6-foot-8 with extremely long arms, he is beginning to put his skill game together. Length, athleticism, and versatility are his strengths. Has shown the ability to get into the lane and rebounds well. Is capable of guarding multiple positions, and also blocking shots. Needs to continue to get better with his outside shot, and if that comes he should be nearly impossible to guard. His upside is through the roof, and he is just now beginning to figure out how good he can become. He should hear his name called early in the NBA draft when decides to make that move.
