Fans of Community can look forward to the cast returning for a virtual table read coming soon, and it’s all being done for charity.
Another great cast reunion is on its way, and this time Community is up to bat in return for one night only. The cast of the fan-favorite show will do a virtual table read of an episode as well as hold a Q&A, all done for charity, and it’ll surely be something fans won’t want to miss.
The returning cast list is pretty extensive and will include the main group of Greendale friends including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and, yes, even Donald Glover will be returning for this event. It’ll especially be great to see Glover return as Troy, as the actor left the series during season 5. Show creator Dan Harmon will also be at the table read, according to Variety.
The table reading will take place on May 18, at 2 p.m. PT on the Community YouTube channel.
Unlike Parks and Recreation, which performed a completely new episode of the show over video chat, the Community table read will be from an old episode. Season 5 episode 4, “Cooperative Polygraphy,” will be what fans can look forward to, and luckily, it’s a hilarious episode that’s worth seeing the cast tackle once again. In this episode, the group meets in the study room after Pierce’s funeral to be read his will, and things take a turn from there as they undergo taking a polygraph test at PIerce’s request in the will.
For those who haven’t seen the episode, every season of Community is available to watch on Netflix. This is the perfect time to catch up on the series if you haven’t already, or you can re-watch the episode in preparation for the big table read. With that, get your questions ready for the Q&A portion of the reading, which fans can submit by @CommunityTV and using the hashtag #AskCommunity.
As Variety reports, a fundraising effort as part of the table reading will go towards the charities José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen and Frontline Foods. And Sony Pictures Television will also donate to the charities. To donate, you can follow the link here ahead of the table read or type wck.org/community into your navigation bar.
Without a doubt, this is yet another rockstar celebrity reunion that’s helping everyone get through COVID-19. And what better way to do it than (virtually) going back through the halls of Greendale Community College for one last study room session?
