Europa League: Copenhagen star sends policeman flying in wild celebrations at Celtic

Copenhagen star Michael Santos pushes a policeman and sends him flying to the ground during crazy celebrations at Parkhead as they knock Celtic out of Europa League

Copenhagen striker Michael Santos astonishingly floored a policeman during wild celebrations after their late winning goal at Celtic.

Santos, who had opened the scoring at Celtic Park on Thursday night, sprinted over to join in on the celebrations in front of the travelling supporters after Pep Biel had given the Danish side the lead in the 84th minute.

A large group of police officers were stationed in front of the away fans and attempted to keep the players away from the crowd before Santos barged straight into one, sending him flying to the ground.

The Copenhagen players were noticeably angered by the police’s decision and were seen arguing with officers in chaotic scenes.

After Biel had scored to restore the visitors’ lead, the Spaniard headed straight towards the ecstatic Copenhagen fans.

A policeman could then been seen in TV footage grabbing Biel from behind and spinning the player around in an attempt to calm him down.

As the pair then remonstrated with each other, another copper was sent tumbling by Santos, who had sprinted over to celebrate with his team-mates.

In videos posted online, Santos appeared to be grabbed by the policeman he had shoved over after he regained his feet.

Another officer appeared to try and assist him before Santos and Biel were ushered away from their fans.

Clearly unhappy, Uruguayan striker Santos turned around and wagged his finger at the police in disapproval.

It is not yet clear if any action will be taken after the incident.

Odsonne Edouard had levelled the score for Celtic with a cheeky Paneka penalty just minutes before Biel restored the visitors’ lead.

Dame N’Doye added a third two minutes from time to seal Copenhagen’s spot in the last 16 of the Europa League after a 4-2 victory on aggregate.
