Noles News: Seminoles legacy earns offer

Recruiting:

2022 linebacker Marvin Jones Jr., son of Florida State legend Marvin Jones (check out our piece on Shade Tree from the summer), has received an FSU offer:

2022 defensive end Justice Finkley, who already has offers from schools like LSU, Michigan and Auburn, now has an offer from Florida State:

Florida State running back signee Corey Wren was named one of the top 20 returning 100 meter runners in the country. You can read our scouting report on Wren, who runs a 10.41, here.

Football:

247Sports took the time to rank the ACC’s quarterbacks, with James Blackman checking in at No. 9 behind the likes of D’Eriq King, Sam Howell, Ian Book and, for some reason, Trevor Lawrence.

Athletic director David Coburn addressed the Florida State athletic board yesterday, updating on important matters like the standalone football facility (he’s discussing a plan with Norvell after spring), season ticket sales (slightly up!) and new strength and conditioning changes (“absolutely making a difference.”)

Former Florida State running back Cam Akers has met with the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons and should be meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soon:

Basketball:

No. 19 Florida State women’s basketball will be facing off against Clemson tonight in the program’s annual “Paint-it Pink” game, with proceeds from the game going directly to cancer research. The Seminoles are trying to secure a double-bye in the ACC Tournament.

Still not over Trent Forrest’s dunk against Louisville Monday? Listen to Malik Osbourne break it down:

Other Sports:

The No. 9 FSU men’s track and field team is looking to secure its third straight ACC title, with the competition beginning today.

In other ACC competition news, FSU’s No. 14 men’s swimming and diving team started off the meet with freshman Peter Varjasi, sophomore Jakub Ksiazek, freshman Aziz Ghaffari and senior Vladimir Stefanik setting a new program record in the 800 free relay while the 200 medley relay team secured a silver. The program just got a commitment from 2024 Pine Crest High backstroke specialist Elvis Kotikovski.

The Florida State University College of Law Moot Court Team won first place in the 2020 Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition.
