Zinedine Zidane set to wield Real Madrid axe by offloading Mariano Diaz or Brahim Diaz in January as Benfica, Espanyol and Leganes line up bids

  • Real Madrid will sell one off or both Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz this month
  • Both players have struggled for playing time this season but are keen to stay
  • Espanyol and Benfica are interested in Mariano and are set to submit offers

Zinedine Zidane is set to wield the axe at Real Madrid by selling at least one of Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz in the January transfer window.

Both players have struggled for playing time this season and are unlikely to feature regularly between now and the end of the season.

According to Diario AS, Madrid could face resistance from both players, though, with the pair keen to stay and fight for their places at the Bernabeu.

However, there is interest in Mariano from Espanyol, Benfica and Leganes, and the trio are likely to submit offers in the coming weeks.

The striker, 26, has made just two appearances this season, both of which came in the recent Spanish Supercopa.

Brahim hasn’t fared much better, with the midfielder featuring for just 40 minutes across four games, though that hasn’t put off Getafe, who have registered their interest.
