In November 2019, former Astros pitcher Mike Fiers made allegations to the Athletic that the Houston Astros stole signs illegally using electronic device assistance during the 2017 season. This launched an extensive investigation by MLB, which culminated in January 2020 with the suspension of manager AJ Hinch, GM Jeff Luhnow, a fine and draft pick forfeitures.
