It sounds like the Kentucky Wildcats won’t have Nate Sestina or Dontaie Allen for at least a few more weeks.

During John Calipari’s Thursday meeting with the media, we got an update on the status of Allen and Sestina:

It’s good to hear Sestina is at least doing some work in practice. The initial recovery timeframe for his broken wrist was 3-4 weeks, so he won’t play this week vs. Fairleigh Dickinson, and it’s hard to see him playing next week vs. Georgia Tech.

As for Allen, it’s unfortunate to hear he’s having a bit of a setback with the knee soreness in his surgically-repaired leg. He tore his ACL in late December during his senior season at Pendleton County, so it’s been 11 full months since then. Earlier this week, Allen practiced fully for the first time since suffering the ACL injury.

Until Allen can get in several consecutive practices and have his conditioning up to speed, he won’t be logging any game action, so it’s hard to say when his collegiate debut will come.
