Family affair! Basketball superstar Ben Simmons attends the premiere of The Australian Dream with his NBL All-Star father Dave Simmons

He’s one of the most in demand NBA players. 

And on Saturday, Ben Simmons swapped center circle to attend the premiere of Adam Goodes’ documentary The Australian Dream at the Philadelphia Film Festival.

The Philadelphia 76ers player was accompanied by his NBL All-Star father, Dave Simmons, a former basketball player.

Dressing up for the occasion, Ben turned heads in a knitted white  top, the design featured a portrait of a female on the bottom right corner.

The 23-year-old looked fashionable as he opted for a black jacket.

He accessorized his look with designer glasses, and a floral pin.

He completed the look with white laced-up Dior shoes.

The Australian documentary follows the story of AFL Legend Adam Goodes, who gives fans a deeper look into his life, racial profiling, his identity and struggle to belong.

Ahead of the film’s screening, Ben took to his Twitter account to reveal that he was excited to have his teammates witness Adam Goodes’ amazing story.

‘Screening tonight @PhillyFilmSoc Adam Goodes’ story @AusDreamFilm Excited to have my teammates witness his amazing story,’ he tweeted.

After the screening, he wrote: ‘Thank you to my @Sixers teammates, guests and the City of Philadelphia for embracing this amazing story of Adam Goodes.’ 

Speaking to 60 Minutes last year, Ben’s parents, Julie and Dave Simmons compared his overnight fame to ‘a bit of a circus’.

‘You almost need to protect him from himself, while he grows into the role, because in five years time he will be a better businessman,’ Ben’s mother, Julie told the program. 

‘With zero skills, the expectations are huge.’ she added.

Julie, 61, went on to say, the change in her family has been huge, and unexpected.
