It’s safe to say there is no super team in college basketball entering the 2019-20 season.
This year, however, there is no such super team, at least on paper heading into the season.
Thu, each team that will rank among the nation’s best will have flaws. NBC Sports provided what they believe will be each top 10 team’s fatal flaw.
For Kentucky, most would say the frontcourt depth is going to be the toughest challenge to overcome. However, NBC Sports says an inability to score in the half-court game will be the Cats’ fatal flaw.
“If you are an SEC coach game-planning to stop them in the halfcourt, who are you worried about?” NBC Sports asked. “Hagans can’t shoot. Johnny Juzang has gotten some buzz, but can he really be better than Tyler Herro was last year? Is E.J. Montgomery going actually to take a step forward? Maxey is fine, but he’s also not the caliber of Kentucky’s past star guards.”
This is a legitimate concern, but the Wildcats do have shooters such as Juzang, Immanuel Quickley and Nate Sestina, who could emerge as reliable. And Quickley has been drawing rave reviews, as he looks like he may have made a PJ Washington-like jump in Year 2.
