Beijing’s nuclear-capable missile DF-41 ‘can level the whole New York City with a single strike’, Chinese media warns
- Chinese analyst said the weapon could deter Washington from ‘running risks’
- The missile could strike and destroy NYC ‘without a problem’, the expert added
- Nuclear-capable DF-41 was unveiled to the world by Beijing earlier this month
- It is said to be able to hit the US within 30 minutes, carrying nuclear warheads
The nuclear-capable weapon, said to boast the longest range of any ballistic rockets in the world, was shown off by China for the first time earlier this month.
The chilling warning was issued after Beijing blasted American companies and organisations, including the NBA and Apple, for making comments or products in support of anti-government protests in Hong Kong.
It also came a day before China’s President Xi warned that any attempts to divide the country would end in ‘crushed bodies and shattered bones’.
China’s DF-41, or Dongfeng-41, is said to boast the longest range of any ballistic rockets in the world. The weapon is pictured being unveiled in a military parade in Beijing on October 1
‘One DF-41 could hit and knock down mega cities such as New York with without a problem,’ wrote Chinese military commentator Xi Yazhou who warned the United States not to take risks
DF-41, or Dongfeng-41, is said to be capable of ranging up to 9,300 miles – putting the entirety of America within its reach.
The missile is said to be able to carry up to 10 nuclear warheads which can be independently manoeuvred, meaning it can strike 10 targets simultaneously.
In order to evade defence systems, it also carries decoys and can hit the United States within 30 minutes of launch, limiting the amount of time defence systems have to respond.

In a commentary published on Saturday, the analyst also showed an image demonstrating how four warheads carried by DF-41 could hit the US eastern coast, destroying the Big Apple
Chinese military analyst Xi Yazhou claimed that DF-41 would actually ensure the safety of the American people because it could prevent Washington from ‘running risks’ and disagreeing with Beijing.
‘The stronger the deterrence is, the less likely imperialists would run risks,’ the expert gushed in an op-ed for Guancha.cn.
Although DF-41 has been hailed for its potential of carrying 10 nuclear warheads simultaneously, in order to strike the entirety of the United States it would need to be equipped with less warheads to reduce its weight, said the independent commentator.
China’s President Xi has warned that any attempts to divide the country would end in ‘crushed bodies and shattered bones’. The leader is pictured at the National Day parade on October 1
‘Therefore, DF-41 should be able to carry three to four W88 warheads with a yield of around 500 kilotons or one single warhead with a yield of one million ton,’ he claimed.
He added: ‘One DF-41 could hit and knock down mega cities such as New York with without a problem.’
The author then showed an image demonstrating how four warheads could hit the US eastern coast, destroying the Big Apple.
The mighty weapon, which took 10 years to develop, is ‘the pillar of Beijing’s strategic nuclear power’, said state broadcaster CCTV. It is pictured during its debut in Beijing on October 1
DF-41 made its public debut in Beijing on October 1 during a military parade in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Communist China.

DF, the short form of Dongfeng, means ‘east wind’ in Chinese. It’s the name given to a series of missiles used by China’s People’s Liberation Army.
Propaganda video claims China has 2,500 ballistic missiles
A propaganda video from China has claimed that Beijing owns about 2,500 ballistic missiles, including one of the world’s most powerful weapons, Dongfeng-41.
Dongfeng-41 missile is said to have the longest range of any ballistic rockets in the world, and could reach London or the United States with nuclear warheads.
The same video, however, also said that other countries shouldn’t be afraid of China’s ‘advanced artillery force’ because Beijing wouldn’t deploy the weapons unless it’s provoked.
China’s other missiles include DF-21 which boasts a firing distance of up to 1,926 miles (3,100km) and has been dubbed ‘the killer of aircraft carrier’.
The missile is potentially capable of sinking a U.S. Nimitz-class aircraft carrier in a single strike, media have claimed.
The DF-10 missile, on the other hand, is the best performing long-range cruise missile in the world, according to Chinese news site Sina.com.
Sina said the 990-pound (450kg) weapon could strike a maximum distance of 1,242 miles (2,000km) and could reach Japan and Taiwan if it’s fired from inland China.
The DF-15B missile is an improved version of the original DF-15 missile and debuted in 2009 during the military parade to celebrate China’s 60th National Day.
The missile can reportedly travel at the speed of 2,000 metres (1.4 miles) per second and its striking accuracy is within 30 metres (98 feet).
