Will Dissly plays in game for first time in almost a year

In the very first game of his NFL career, Will Dissly had three catches for 105 yards on five targets against the Chicago Bears. Dissly got five more targets in Week 2, gaining 42 yards and scoring the second touchdown of his career. The Seattle Seahawks lost both of those games, unfortunately, but found a young tight end they were probably comfortable and confident building around.

Dissly tore his patellar tendon in Week 4 and his status for 2019’s Week 1 was immediately in question, but Dissly returned on Sunday night vs the Minnesota Vikings and it’s looking probable that he’s going to be the TE1 when the Seahawks host the Cincinnati Bengals to open the regular season.

Though you won’t find him on the box score, Dissly played in 15 snaps on offense and he feels like the best all-around option for Seattle at this point. Nick Vannett has never played as well as the way that Dissly did to open 2018 and Ed Dickson isn’t practicing or playing. There was only one target to a tight end on Sunday night, a failed attempt towards Jacob Hollister.

The Seahawks play the LA Chargers on Saturday in preseason Week 3, giving Dissly an opportunity to up his snaps a little more and perhaps grab a target or three.
