The Washington Nationals continued their offensive onslaught with a 13-0 spanking of the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, as eleven of their fifteen hits went for extra bases.

The game was over when the second batter of the game, Adam Eaton, liften his eleventh home run of the year into the seats in right off losing pitcher Trevor Williams. If it wasn’t obvious with a 4-0 deficit after one inning, fate was slapping the Pirates in the face when they trailed 8-0 after two. The only studliness being prodigious blast after another off the bats of the Nationals.

Besides Eaton, Matt Adams, Trea Turner and Asdrubal Cabrera all homered. Juan Soto was perfect with two singles, two doubles and a walk in five trips to the plate.

Williams faced fifteen batters. Eight scored with three batters reaching by a base on balls and another six by hits, with two of those six going for doubles and three landing over the fence.

Williams saw his ERA go up to 5.65, having allowed seventeen earned runs in his last twelve innings, over three starts.

Montana DuRapau gave up three runs in two innings on three doubles and a single. Francisco Liriano gave up two doubles and a homer in just an inning of work.

The Pirates managed four hits. After scoring their only run in the ninth in against the Cubs the night before, they put two on in the bottom of ninth, but alas, both were stranded.

Having now lost 28 of their last 35 games, the Pirates will face the Nationals again at 7:05 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday evening, sending Chris Archer (3-9, 5.23) to the mound to face Washington veteran right-hander Steven Strasburg (15-5, 3.82)
