BC Interruption Hall of Fame Class of 2019: Brian Dumoulin

As the BCI Hall of Fame Inductions come to a close, we induct another former BC defenseman, Brian Dumoulin.

Almost from the first time he stepped on the ice at Boston College, Dumoulin was among the best defensemen in Hockey East, if not the NCAA. He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team as a freshman before being named to the All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Eagles to the National Championship in 2010. In his final two seasons at Boston College, Dumoulin continued to dominate on the blue line. He was named an All-American in 2011 and 2012 in addition to being named to both All-Hockey East teams in that same time. He capped his collegiate career with his second National Championship in 2012 when he assisted on Paul Carey’s game winning goal in a 4-1 win over Ferris State.

Dumoulin finished his three-year career at BC with 83 points in 123 games, a host of individual honors, three Beanpot trophies, three Hockey East Tournament trophies, and two National Championships. Now 27, Dumoulin has not stopped winning at the professional level. After being drafted in the second round by the Carolina Hurricanes, Dumoulin was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he has spent his entire career. Having emerged as a valuable member of the Penguins blue line, Dumoulin already has two Stanley Cups to his name. He played a major role in the Penguins wins in 2016 (where he scored the opening goal of the decisive game 6) and 2017.

In their storied history, Boston College has had a number of great defensemen patrol their blue line. Few entered as dominant and left as decorated as Brian Dumoulin.
