Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineup: As Chris Sale goes, so go the Sox

We’re back! Mere hours after besting the Blue Jays on the beefy-boy back of Rafael Devers, the teams will get back at it, weather permitting, this afternoon at Fenway Park (1:05 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network). Devers, Xander Bogaerts and Christian Vazquez have kept the Sox afloat this year, but they’re still a little rudderless — and that’s where Sale comes in. He can propel the Sox to and through the postseason; he can be the motor to the boat, the phonetic pun with his last name notwithstanding. And this can start at any time. I vote for 1:05 p.m. today, and urge you to do the same.

The Blue Jays start Thomas Pannone, who won’t technically be an opener but might end up being one in practice. The last time out, also against Boston, he gave up four runs over four innings. I also vote for that! As for the lineups, Andrew Benintendi is down to seventh in the order as his forgettable season continues, but nothing else worth mentioning. Remember kids: voting is important.
