Sheffield United set to sign Callum Robinson after Preston accept £10m bid for the striker

  • Callum Robinson was given permission to leave PNE’s training camp

  • Robinson, 24, scored 13 goals in 36 appearances for Preston last season

Sheffield United have agreed a £7million fee, rising to £10m with add ons, for Preston North End striker Callum Robinson.

Norwich City are understood to have offered £6m for 24-year old Robinson but ultimately were unable to match Sheffield’s offer.

Robinson was given permission to leave PNE’s training camp in Fota Island, Ireland on Thursday afternoon to head for talks and a medical.

The Republic of Ireland international, who joined PNE from Aston Villa, scored 13 goals last season. 

Preston announced the news with a statement on their official website read: ‘Preston North End can confirm they have accepted a bid from a Premier League club for forward Callum Robinson.

‘The player has been given permission to leave the team’s Irish training camp in order to discuss personal terms and undertake a medical ahead of a proposed move.

‘There will be no further comment from the club at this time.’
