Iman Shumpert traded to Houston Rockets as part of 3-team trade

Iman Shumpert traded to Houston Rockets in a three-team trade with the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. They are also receiving Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin from Cleveland.

The Kings are receiving Alec Burks and a second-round pick from the Cavs as part of the deal. The Cavs receive Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a protected first-round pick from Houston in the trade, according to terms reported by Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Knight and Chriss were acquired by Houston in the Ryan Anderson salary dump over the offseason. Oddly enough, both sides got rid of what they acquired in that trade, as Houston is jettisoning Knight and Chriss, while Phoenix traded Anderson to Miami on Wednesday.

Iman Shumpert traded to Houston Rockets is the headliner in this deal and is a significant addition for the Rockets. Their biggest issue this season has been a lack of depth. But now they’ve added Shumpert, Kenneth Faried and Austin Rivers, while getting Chris Paul back from his hamstring injury. Shumpert was a player drafted by the Knicks when Mike D’Antoni was their head coach.

They 31-22 Rockets are trying to move into the top four in the West over the second half of the season.
