Baltimore Ravens beat Houston Texans 34-10 to reach AFC title game

Lamar Jackson orchestrated a commanding performance, throwing two touchdown passes and running for two scores as the Baltimore Ravens secured a 34-10 victory over the Houston Texans on Saturday, advancing to the AFC championship game. Despite a tied score at halftime (10-10), Jackson’s dynamic rushing display in the third quarter, including a 15-yard scoring run, propelled the Ravens to take control of the game.

Acknowledging the motivation from their formidable defense, Jackson praised their efforts in halting the Texans and creating momentum for the Ravens. Baltimore will now host the AFC title game for the first time since 1971, facing the winner of the Sunday matchup between Buffalo and Kansas City. Reflecting on their progress, Jackson emphasized the need for more work ahead.

The Ravens’ fans, haunted by past playoff disappointments, witnessed a determined performance to overcome potential anxiety. Jackson’s third-quarter drive and a subsequent 15-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely in the fourth solidified Baltimore’s lead. Jackson’s final touchdown, an 8-yard run, sealed the victory.

Despite Steven Sims’ punt return for a touchdown being the only score for the Texans, their offense failed to reach the end zone against the Ravens this season. Jackson, a strong MVP candidate, showcased his dual-threat abilities, rushing for 100 yards and passing for 152. Houston’s C.J. Stroud, though not sacked, couldn’t propel the Texans to victory. Penalties and defensive pressure, especially in the first half, hindered the Texans, who dropped to 0-5 in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Ravens, leading the NFL in sacks during the season, faced early pressure, but Jackson’s resilient performance and strategic plays secured their spot in the AFC championship game.

Houston can be thrilled with its rise this season, which included an AFC South title and a first-round playoff rout against Cleveland. The future looks bright with Stroud at quarterback.
